Music in the Cloisters
Since 1996 the Busoni Centre has taken part in an important event in the life of the city – “Lights of the City” (which the Municipality was organising for a second time after the great tourist success of the preceding year), with a series called “Music in the Cloisters and Precincts.
In structuring the concerts, the organisers were intent on alternating instrumental and vocal music, and on showcasing groups not using the piano (which is rarely done in the winter seasons) and ancient music.
Furthermore, since the concerts are held outdoors, thought is given to matching each musical group to a particular cloister or precinct so that both the music and the architecture are enhanced.
From next year the series will change its name, becoming “Music in the cloisters and churches” so as also to include organ concerts.
The concerts are always held on Wednesdays in the month of July.
